Salad Days: MiAL Pop Up Shop 2012
14th – 23rd September
34 Marshall Street
Salad Days, curated by Flagship Collective and Made in Arts London, is a pop-up shop for the duration of the London Design Festival, showcasing the most unique, exciting and seductive work from students and recent graduates of art and design from across Britain’s top arts colleges.
From truly original homeware (including furniture, fish clocks and knotted bowls) to witty and impeccably made accessories and prints, Salad Days brings you a diverse and eclectic range of contemporary products, all at affordable prices.
Based in the heart of London’s West End (34 Marshall Street) and with workshops and film screenings taking place for the festival, Salad Days will be a beautifully fleeting destination where you can glimpse the most exciting work from young designers in London. Salad Days is a youthful, vibrant showcase that shows the public what young creatives are making now and that ‘student’ doesn’t mean sloppy work.
Once we have closed the doors of our Marshall Street shop, we will be working on product development and new events with another batch of young designers.
This is Made in Arts London’s first Design Festival and we’re really delighted to have found amazing partners – Flagship Collective to collaborate with to host a POP UP shop.
The shop, Salad Days is in the heart of Soho and is a magical destination of truly exciting design by the next generation of makers. From knitted sleeping bags to bearded man-cushions, vibrant prints and statement jewellery it is great to see this array of work from different designers brought together.
Flagship Collective are all recent Graduates of 3D design at Camberwell College of Art – we found them when contacting people for our next release of editions (due out beginning of October) and from chatting realised that we shared a lot of the same ambitions – to promote student and graduate art to a wider audience and prove that just because you are starting out doesn’t mean you can’t produce polished and exceptional design.
If you like design, want some interesting pieces to decorate your home or are possibly one of those incredibly organised and brilliant people who start their Christmas shopping in September than POP in and see us in our little shop, we’d love to see you!
