MIALAW2016 SELECTION PANEL – AMY STEPHENS

Made in Art London submissions are currently open to all University of the Arts London students and recent graduates. We are looking for artist and designers who would like to sell their work online at madeinartslondon.com, exhibit work in external exhibitions and art fairs across London and gain access to professional development to progress their careers.

MiAL represent a fantastically diverse range of work including fine art, illustration, photography, fashion, homeware, video, performance, sculpture, installation and more! With each new collection we welcome around 30 new artists to join MiAL and your work is launched online as part of the new collection.

MiALAW16 Selection Panel

Each collection is chosen by a panel of industry experts. The panel look through all submissions and provide feedback to everyone, which means that even if your work isn’t selected you’ll receive helpful guidance on why it wasn’t selected.

The panel changes with each collection, for the MiAL AW2016 Collection we’ve already announced Aisha Richards as one of our panelists, and we are pleased to announce that our second panelist is artist Amy Stephens.

Amy StephensAmy received an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design, London, UK (2008). Selected solo exhibitions include rock, paper, mountain, UV estudios, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2016); fig2 35/50 ICA Studio, London (2015); Rocks Remember, William Benington Gallery, London, UK (2015); ‘an oyster can’t read this’, Oonagh Young Gallery, Dublin, Ireland (2015); Catching the Big Fish, Minibar, Stockholm, Sweden (2013); Collide, Poppy Sebire Gallery, London, UK (2012); This Urban Silence, Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin, Ireland (2011).

In 2016, Amy was awarded funding from the Arts Council England and the British Council to travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina and produce a solo exhibition. Selected awards include Villa Lena Artists’ Residency, Tuscany, Italy (2015); Triangle Network Award and International Fellowship to Muscat, Oman with Gasworks Gallery, London, UK (2013); Irish Museum of Modern Art Artists’ Residency, Dublin, Ireland (2011); The Banff Centre, Artists’ Residency, Canada (2010).

Amy is a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and the Contemporary Art Society in London. She has artwork in public and private collections internationally and is based at Studio Voltaire in London.
