MiAL x UAL Borderless Commission
Call Out – Commission Oppourtunity
The MiAL x UAL Borderless commission is a chance for University of the Arts London students to create an exclusive commission celebrating internationalism, to be showcased at Made in Art London’s ‘Borderless’ exhibition 21st – 26th March 2017 at Espacio Gallery.
Two students will receive £800 to go towards creating the commission, and will become a Made in Arts London artist.
One selected student will be a current UAL home or international student, and one selected student will be from the UAL Eurasmus program.

Ideal for:
Current UAL students who would like a paid opportunity to develop and expand their practice. This opportunity is aimed at students who feel that this opportunity could help them develop and create work that they otherwise may be unable to complete. It is also aimed at students who feel they would benefit from this experience and gain professional development experience in creating a commission to a brief.
What it is:
The MiAL x UAL Borderless Commission is an opportunity for a UAL student to create an exclusive piece or installation celebrating internationalism within the creative industries and creative institutions, particularly within the UAL staff and student body.
The commissioned piece will be exhibited at Made in Arts London’s ‘Borderless’ exhibition, alongside other commissions, art and design all addressing the importance of internationalism in the light of the EU Referendum vote, and the significance of celebrating cultural diversity.
There are no limitations on the medium of the final piece, but please keep in mind that the piece will need to be physically exhibited within the gallery space at Espacio Gallery. The piece must therefore fit and work within the gallery space, and must be ready to install on Monday 20th March 2017.
The MiAL x UAL Borderless Commission is an opportunity funded by University of the Arts London in partnership with Made in Arts London.
How to apply:
To apply for this opportunity please complete the submission form online. You will need to provide an artist statement and details about your proposed commission including your thinking behind the piece and how it relates to the theme. You will also need to provide examples of previous work, and if possible sketches and example images of your proposed piece.
All applications will be reviewed by a panel on Wednesday 1st of February, and the selected student will be contacted on Friday 3rd February.
